Second Sunday of Easter, in spite of all we have heard and all that we have seen, it is often hard to believe. Because it’s hard to believe, we will invest ourselves in the Easter mystery for fifty days ( a week of weeks). Because it is hard to believe, John the evangelist will provide sign after sign celebrating Jesus’ victory over death. Because it is hard to believe, the Lord Jesus will return to us again and again in the mystery of the holy communion, inviting us to touch and taste His presence, and offering us his peace.
Preparation for worship: Help me, “my Lord and my God” (John 20:28), to be as honest about my doubts as Thomas was, that those doubts might be the seeds of true belief.
As the risen Jesus greeted his beloved disciples, please welcome your brothers and sisters with peace.
We welcome and invite to our Lord’s Table all those baptized persons who truly believe that Christ is present in the elements of bread and wine. We offer both the small cup and the common cup. If you prefer the common cup, please refuse the small cup.
Wednesday, May 1st, Naomi Circle will meet for a work day.
Saturday, May 4th , is our Annual Pancake Breakfast. Are we ready? Friends are already commenting that it is coming soon.
May 5, we will have Pot Luck following worship. Will we be having another pancake meal?
