A Note of Thanks

The Douglas County Veterans Memorial Association is in the process of presenting certificates and flags to all the White, Blue, and Gold sponsors of The Wall That Heals exhibit that was showcased in Ava last September.  Shown above, Fred Hansen, left, and Charles Gilespie, right, presented a sponsor certificate and flag to Sue Curry Jones, publisher of the Douglas County Herald and staff last week.  The Herald served as a Gold Sponsor of The Wall, and according to organizer Larry Morrison, “it was through the assistance and support of The Herald that word was spread throughout the state and adjoining states resulting in over 20,000 visitors coming to The Wall while it was in Ava.”   The certificates are an expression of the DCVMA’s appreciation, and each flag being presented is one that flew over The Wall while the memorial was on display in Ava.
