Freeda Mae Richards, age 90 of Ava, Missouri passed away late Monday evening, Sept. 3, 2018 in Cox South Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 2, 1928 in the Smallett community, the daughter of Francis Luin and Clara Mae (McDaniel) Haden. On July 6, 1946, she was united in marriage to Billy Dean Richards in Mountain Home, Ark. 

Freeda was a longtime Douglas County resident and loved living the rural life on the farm she and Bill enjoyed together, prior to his passing on July 20, 1996. Her life was centered around sharing meals, fishing trips and holidays with her family and friends. Freeda was a well-known talented guitarist, singer, quilter, a good cook and had a green thumb for gardening. She bragged about spoiling her eleven sweet great-grandchildren and loved them all unconditionally. Her love will be sadly missed but her lasting memories of laughter and caring concern for others will live on forever.

Freeda is survived by two sons Keith Richards and wife Michelle, Karl Richards and wife Christine; two sisters Lenore Burton and Betty Jenkins; one brother Jim Haden; five grandchildren Janette Richards, Marcus Dean Richards, Sarah Menary and husband Ben, Kevin Richards and wife Haley, Jennifer Pitts and husband Nick; eleven great-grandchildren Xander Mayberry, Grayson Knox, Baylor and Quinn Menary, Zachary, Garrett and Lincoln Richards, Kyle, Kennnon, Kyndall, and Kooper Mae Pitts, several nieces, nephews and other caring relatives. In addition to her husband Bill, Freeda is also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Modena Cox, Mary Alice Cox, three brothers Aubrey, George, and Jack Haden.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2018 in Life Church, Ava, Missouri with Pastors James Hathcock and David Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.  Visitation will be held in the church beginning at 10:00 until service time at 11:30. The family requests donations be made to the Mt.
