AG Files Lawsuit Against Rough Country Rustic Furniture, LLC for Deceptive Practices

JEFFERSON CITY – Attorney General Josh Hawley filed a lawsuit today against Joseph Ross, Ashley Dillard, and their companies Rough Country Rustic Furniture, LLC (“Rough Country”) and Rustic Concealment Solutions, LLC (“Rustic Concealment”). Rough Country is an online furniture company located in Wright County, Missouri. The Attorney General’s lawsuit alleges that the company and its owners used deceptive and unfair business practices in connection with the sale of furniture and home decor.

According to complaints received by the Attorney General’s Office, the company took payments for furniture and home decor but failed to provide the purchased products to consumers, or in some cases provided defective products. Consumers were allegedly promised refunds but never received them. After consumers filed complaints against the company, its owners opened Rustic Concealment, through which they allegedly continued their unfair practices and false promises to consumers.

“My office stands firm in its commitment to protect Missouri consumers,” Hawley said. “If companies don’t deliver what they promise when they promise it, they will have to answer to the Attorney General.”

The filing of this lawsuit is the result of an investigation by the Attorney General’s Office that began in December 2017. During the course of this investigation, the office received approximately 1100 complaints against Rough Country from consumers nationwide. At this time, it is alleged that the company took over $450,000 from consumers without providing the products ordered.

Rough Country and its operators have indicated that they are looking to fulfill their outstanding orders. As the case proceeds, the Attorney General’s Office will continue to work toward making consumers whole.

This case is being investigated by Senior Investigator Margie Colon and prosecuted by Assistant Attorneys General Amy Davis and John Grantham. Consumers who believe they may have been a victim of similar deception are encouraged to file a complaint by calling the Consumer Protection Hotline at 800-392-8222 or submitting a claim online.
