An Ava youngster was seriously injured late Monday afternoon when he ran his bicycle off West Washington Ave. south of the city park and landed in a dry creek bed. The youngster, approximately 12 years old, was airlifted to a Springfield hospital with broken bones and a possible head injury. EMS, law enforcement and fire department personnel are shown above preparing to move the boy out of the deep ravine.
