During the week of Aug. 5-11 the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received and answered 71 Calls for Service and arrested and booked 20 individuals into the Douglas County Jail. We currently have 28 in the jail now, with two being housed out of county.
On Aug. 7, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a call about suspicious activity in the vicinity of County Road 223 off of East 14 highway, which resulted in a traffic stop and a subject being taken into custody with an extraditable warrant from Phelps County.
Gordon Wilson, age 40, of Washington Mo., was arrested and held on a $25,000 cash surety bond for possession of a controlled substance. Phelps County has transported Wilson back to their facility.
Grand jury indictments were handed down from the jail fire that occurred on July 15. Three females who were being housed in the Douglas County Jail were responsible for setting the fire.
The three were identified as Courtney Smith, 26, of Thornfield; Amanda Sue Wade, 36, of Ava; and Erin Nichols, 24, of Ava.
