Sunday was a beautiful Lord’s Day and we had a good crowd out for both Sunday morning and evening services. There is so much to be said for taking the day that God set aside to rest and to worship. If you give God the time he ask you to, He will give you time to get all that you need to get done, done. If not today, then tomorrow and your life will be so much better!
Our morning service opened with scripture reading and prayer, then classes. Morning worship started with the little kids singing a special and then Casey led our congregational singing. Prayer request was made for the Herd family of Chadwick, Mo. Joey Herd passed away last week and they were having his funeral on Tuesday of this week. He was a long-time bus driver for the Chadwick school district as well as an area farmer. He is going to be missed by all who knew him.
We were glad to have Dillon and his daughter, Belinda at church Sunday night. She had just returned from a mission trip with her church in Springfield and had a wonderful testimony of people being saved. That’s why we keep on doing what we can to spread the Gospel. It’s to see people accept Jesus as their Savior.
Worship service began with Jerry encouraging everyone to lift up our hearts in praise and prayer as we assemble together to worship a risen Savior. God hears our prayers and we need to be faithful. Our Lord is coming back to collect his people. Matthew 24:27 tells us “For as lightening comes from the East and shines to the West, so shall the coming of the Son of Man be. And we have an adversary, Satan, who constantly tries to turn people’s minds away from the truth and he can have power over your life, if you will let him. Only Christ has the power to trod Satan underfoot, and only through the name of Jesus do we have the power to tell Satan to get behind us. One of the special songs that was sung, this morning was, I Just Steal Away and Pray. What power God has given to his people through the simple act of prayer. Our Pastor then took his text from Luke 5 and preached a powerful sermon from a very familiar passage. But, each time God’s word is brought forth, there is something new there for each of us if we just listen and take it to heart. Those fishermen didn’t catch a thing until Jesus came on the scene. It’s only with Jesus involved in each day of our lives, that we can expect to accomplish what he expects of us as Christian men and women.
Our Ladies Meeting will be Thursday July 20, at 6:30 pm at Mt. Olive. We want to invite you to come join us for Bible Study, prayer, and fellowship. And of course some coffee and snacks.
VBS begins on July 31st at Eastern Gate Baptist Church. That’s Monday night and I am pretty sure it will be from 6:30 – 8:30. This will be a joint effort with Breedon Church and Mt. Olive church helping out so plan on bringing the kids and having a fun week.
It’s amazing what a little encouragement can do. Could someone in your family, your church, your community use some encouragement today? Remember, the battle is the Lord’s. Remind others of the exceeding great and precious promises of God. Nothing will encourage them more. “Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.” Psalm 37:3
