Senator has so far supported all of President Trump’s nominees for the Department of Homeland Security
WASHINGTON (July 11) – U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill, the top-ranking Democrat on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, today voted to support the nomination of Claire Grady to become the next Under Secretary for Management at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The Senate Homeland Security Commit-tee has approved four of President Trump’s picks for DHS, and McCaskill has supported all of them.
“It’s essential that the Department of Homeland Security has the personnel it needs to keep Missourians and all Americans safe, and I’m glad to join Democrats and Republicans alike to advance another one of President Trump’s nominees for the agency,” McCaskill said. “Claire Grady has a long history of service helping to protect our country, and I look forward to working with her once she’s confirmed.”
Grady has previously worked for the Department of Defense, Depart-ment of Homeland Security, and the U.S. Coast Guard. Now that she has been approved by the Senate Homeland Security and Govern-mental Affairs Committee, her nomination will move to consider-ation by the full Senate.
McCaskill has served on the Homeland Security and Govern-mental Affairs Committee since 2007, and she became the top-ranking Democrat in January 2017. McCaskill has supported President Trump’s nominees for Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator. Recently, President Trump signed into law her bill with Republican Senator Pat Roberts of Kansas to address the threat of agro-terrorism.
