The board of directors of the Ava Area Ambulance District met in special session Thursday, July 6, at 12 noon, to formally reject all bids submitted at the June 29 bid opening on a building addition. As noted last week, all bids came in well above the projected cost of the building project. The board authorized architect Steve Deckard, of Keystone Architects, Marshfield, to rebid the project, with some revisions in the initial construction plans. The next bid opening has been set for Thursday, Aug. 17, at 3 p.m., at the ambulance station in Ava. Present for the special meeting on July 6 were Keith Moore, Teresa Tost, Vernon Johnson and Jim Brown, as well as Steve Wood, local supervisor for Cox Ambulance-Ava. Absent members were Daryel Armour and Scotty Upchurch. The board will hold a regular quarterly meeting on Thursday, Aug. 3, at 5 p.m.
