Airport Ready For New Runway

The Ava airport runway was graded and compacted last Thursday before asphalt could be put down this week.

The apron at the Bill Martin Memorial Airport was completely removed and a new base will be put down before the asphalt is applied.

A tanker truck sprays water on the runway to maintain a moisture content necessary for proper compaction of the runway base. That moisture content must be maintained until the asphalt is put down.
