Summer school “Run, Bike & Swim” Triathlon

The Summer school “Run, Bike & Swim” class will have their 4th annual triathlon on Tuesday, June 27 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Ava City Park. The students will start the event in the pool, then ride their bikes around the lower park, ending with a run to the upper park for the running portion of the event with the finish line by the upper park pavilion.   As students continue to train for their event please watch for the class out on their bikes on the streets of Ava.  Family and friends are encouraged to come to the park Tuesday morning and cheer on the participants. The “Run, Bike & Swim” class began on Monday, June 5. The day began with a bike safety course and donated bike helmets for all students who needed one. Third through 6th grade students are training for the summer school triathlon with swimming skills classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Teaching swimming skills are Asst. Supt.
