The Color Run, postponed earlier in the spring because of weather, is now set to be held next Wednesday, June 21, at 6 p.m. at the Ava City Park. Those planning to participate are asked to meet behind the upper park softball field at 5:45 to line up. Participants will be grouped in flights, with runners first, followed by walkers and young families. Those driving are asked to park at the lower park tennis courts area or pavilion. Please do not park at the upper park. Those participating are advised that all powder used in the color run is certified non-toxic. Still, it is recommended that you wear sunglasses and a bandana over your mouth and nose in the color zones just for extra protection. It is further suggested that you wear a hat, and white or light-colored shirt so the color shows up well. Bring a towel and/or a change of clothes for the ride home. A station will be provided to blow off most of the color but you will still have some on you. There is no fee and no preregistration. Just show up expecting a good time of fun and fitness. The Color Run is a project of the Healthy Schools Healthy Communities initiative, coordinated in the Ava R-1 School District by Ann Leonard.
