Baseball Jamboree Has Been Moved

The 2017 baseball jamboree, originally scheduled to be played this Saturday, has been moved to Friday afternoon due to the threat of bad weather moving in.

Teams will remain the same – Ava, West Plains and Springfield Catholic – but the schedule of play and times have changed.

Beginning at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, Ava will play West Plains, followed by West Plains and Catholic at 3:30. The nightcap will feature Ava and Catholic beginning at 5 o’clock.

All games will be played at Kerr Field at the athletic complex west of town on Highway Y.

Mtn. Grove was also originally scheduled to participate but their baseball season was put on hold when the basketball team advanced to the Class 3 Final Four in Columbia.

Each game is scheduled to be a four-inning contest.

The Bears will begin their regular season on Saturday, March 18, with a double header in Rolla. The Bears will play Father Tolton of Columbia at 12 noon and Rolla at 2 p.m. that day.

On Monday, March 20, the Baseball Bears will play in the Cabool Tournament.

Ava’s first home baseball game is set for Tuesday, March 21 vs. Hollister, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
