National Walk To School Day

National Walk To School Day was observed Tuesday morning this week after the event was postponed last Friday due to rain. There were 150 elementary and middle school students who walked to school along with 15 student leaders who volunteered to walk with them. There were also 10 adult volunteers, several parents, plus Mayor David Norman and City Council members Stan Lovan, Burrely Loftin and Keith Jones; and City Clerk Suzanne Welsh. The morning was a little cool starting out, but it was a beautiful morning to walk. National Walk To School Day is promoted by the Healthy Schools Healthy Communities project.
