Highway Patrol Investigates Wrecks In Area

The Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated traffic accidents in Douglas County during the past week, resulting in minor to moderate injuries to those involved.

On Thursday, Sept. 29, officers were called to a one vehicle wreck north of Squires on Highway 5.

The 1:15 crash occurred when Danial D. Neal, 17, of Gainesville, ran his 2008 Chevrolet 1500 off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

A passenger, Danial A. Neal, 39, also of Gainesville, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield by ambulance.

The crash was investigated by Cpl. D.J. Johnson. It is unknown if the occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Cpl. Johnson also investigated a wreck on Highway B, five miles south of Mansfield in Douglas County on Saturday, Oct. 1.

That wreck occurred at 2:45 p.m. when the driver, Patricia A. Dennis, 65, of Mansfield, ran her 2009 Toyota Camry off the roadway and hit a tree.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Springfield Mercy Hospital by ambulance with moderate injuries.

Two people, including an Ava man, were hurt in a crash near Marshfield in Webster County on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Troop D, Missouri Highway Patrol, reported that Mitchel G. Lakey, 43, of Ava, was traveling east on I-44 three miles west of Marshfield in a 2000 International 4900 truck that ran off the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned.

Both the driver and a passenger, Shane J. Perkins, 42, of Ozark, were taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield with minor injuries.

The driver, Lakey, was wearing a seatbelt; his passenger was not, according to the report.
