Douglas Co. Historical Society Meeting Held On September 19

The Douglas County Historical Society met Monday, Sept. 19. Sharon called the meeting to order. Pat read the minutes and gave treasurer’s report. Both were approved.

The traveling quilt was at Great Southern and goes to Ava Art Guild on Thursday.  They would sell  tickets on it there. Games would be set up and there would be ads in the  Herald and on KKOZ.  Quilts would be displayed at both museum and Art Guild.

Painters are about done, water faucet was broken and has been fixed.  Sharon fixed leak in toilet.

Sharon and Marilyn went to Chamber meeting to talk about the Quilt Show.  Cold Creek Cowboy Band would be singing at the Quilt show.  Drinks and food would be available.

Andrew will be working on the front porch this week. We applied for a grant for guttering and leaf guard plus repair to ceiling in Great Room.

Decorating for Halloween was discussed.  Sally made motion to decorate if the person working wants too but no haunted house this year.

Journal articles:  Harry Martin, Bill Martin Display upstairs, Ava Airport, Bradshaws, Privetts.  Still need articles for Journal.  Deadline is October 15.  Marilyn brought up possible short stories on Award Recipents.  Possible future stories on important people of Douglas County:  Mary Lou Sallee, Gladys Stewart, Fast Eddie, Bob Holt, etc.
