Norwood Gleanings

Sorry about last week. Just did not get it written. That’s going to happen from time to time.

Starting with our anniversaries. Happy late anniversary to Levi and Staci McDaris on the 31st. On August 2, David and DeDe Richardson celebrated, and Lonnie and Joni Mayfield will have theirs on the 12th. Congratulations to you all.

The Union Grove Church had VBS this week and we averaged 100 kids every night. Wow! Pretty good for a little country church and we had around 35 workers every night.

Delaine and Devin McGraw had their baby girl on July 26. Thea Grace weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces.

Shane and Brittany Chadwell came home this week with their son, Wyatt Knox. He weighed 9 pounds.

Congratulations to Keegan Shannon and Kristian Williams on their wedding on Saturday.

A big congratulations to Hannah Kelly for winning the 141st Republican Representative. You have some mighty big shoes to fill as Tony Dugger’s time is up. You needed experience and now you will have a chance to get it. Don’t let the people down.

The election had a decent turnout but we have 1,116 voters registered and 436 came out. I predict 800 in November for the presidential election, but it is sad that we really don’t have anyone to vote for.

School starts August 18 and August 16 is when you meet the teachers between 5 and 7 p.m.

Someone stole Jonas Yutzy’s horse and buggy and ran it all the way to town. I guess they thought is was funny. But they nearly killed the horse because it’s so hot and stealing their buggy is the same as someone stealing your car. Not to mention if they would have had an accident.

Brandon and Kristy McIntosh bought the Malone’s home on Y Hwy. Congratulations to you on your new purchase.

Kevin and Debi Gray’s youngest daughter, Jordan Gray, wed Drew Miller on July 30. I didn’t get to go, but I saw pictures and she was  a beautiful little bride. Her husband will be the boys baseball head coach this year at Norwood.

Mark your calendar. Farmers Day will be September 24 and of course that is always on the goat sale. I never get to go anymore.

Sharon Marler needs our prayers again. Her cancer has come back three places in her spine. She will do ten days of radiation in a row and resume her chemo meds.

Norwood School has its new sword carved out in the parking lot. It looks real nice.

Thought: Stop being afraid of what could go wrong; and start being excited of what could go right.

Until next week, God bless our little town.
