Rome Bridge Artwork Donated to Historical Society

A shadow box containing a photograph and piece of the “old” Rome Bridge was presented to Sally Hicks, president of the Douglas County Historical Society, during the Historical Society’s monthly meeting held on Monday, May 16.  The shadowbox memento was created by  Darlene Sorensen, above left, who provided the artwork in remembrance of the long-standing structure.  The framed piece includes a color photo of the bridge, as well as a steel fragment from the bridge.  For those interested in local history, the Historical Society meets on the third Monday of each month at the Museum, which is located at 401 East Washington  Avenue, in Ava.  Visitors and newcomers are welcome to attend.
