Red Bank Church News

Greetings to everyone.  I was really happy that we got some rain yesterday morning.  Everything around here was dust dry, including my garden.    Today’s cooler temperature really soothed my temperament too.  It makes me feel like getting busy with some household chores that I have been putting off lately.

Hymns led by Gary Lirley began the morning church service at Red Bank.  Brother Lauren greeted members and guest in absence of Jerry Huff who wasn’t feeling up to par.   Jeane said that he was feeling very weak and tired.  We will continue to pray that he will regain strength rapidly.   Celebrating his birthday with a mission offering was Gary Lirley.  It was announced that our monthly Praise Service would begin at 7:00 that evening.

The text for the morning sermon was taken from Micah 4:  This chapter in the Old Testament describes the latter days when God will reign on this Earth.  Verse one says that the Lord’s house will be established on top of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills and the peoples will flow into it.   Not only the people, but verse two mentions that many nations will go up to the mountain to the house of the God of Jacob to be taught his ways so they can walk in His paths.  “—for out of Zion the law shall go forth, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.”  This part of the verse indicates that He will rule from Jerusalem.   Verse 3 says that He shall Judge between many peoples, He will rebuke strong nations afar off; they will beat their swords into plowshares and spears into pruning hooks; nations shall not lift up sword against nation; and they shall not learn war any more.  “But everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid— (vs. 4).”  “—But we will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever (vs.5).”  God has many wonderful plans for His Children after he takes them to his Heavenly home.  When He comes to Earth to reign, His Children will be with him.  How exciting!   For once we will hear the truth of every matter and of any and all questions we might have.   No one will want to hurt anyone for any reason.  What we produce we will be able to enjoy without fear of thieves or high taxes.  If I understood correctly, Brother Lauren said that the contents of verse 3 are written over the door of the United Nations.

The Praise Service Sunday evening was wonderful.  There were many inspirational vocal and instrumental specials presented.  The fellowship held after the service was enjoyed by all.  We invite anyone who has a message in song, verse or testimony to join us on the second Sunday evening of every month.  In fact, we invite anyone who just wants to listen and be blessed to join us also.

We drove by the garage sale, held at Pam Shell’s house last week end, and saw that it was well attended.   Gary and I didn’t get to stop and check it out, but we heard that there was lots of great stuff to choose from.

Visiting with Maxine Lirley was Jeane Huff, Gary and Alice Lirley and Ralph Laughlin.  Ralph often brings Maxine a very interesting magazine that she enjoys reading.   Maxine is in the process of writing her memoirs.  The story of her life and the lives of family and friends who lived around her is really interesting.   She has a way of describing the different situations and surroundings of her past that makes one feel that they are right there with her.   She is an amazing lady.  And, she is only 91.

That’s all the news for now.  Take care and take hope.  God is near and He is still in charge.  Call upon Him.  He is The Lord God Almighty!
