What can we say, it’s a hot time in the Ozarks. We cut our walks shorter because of the heat and dust. Juanita and Raina Powell were kicking up the dust riding four wheelers Friday evening.
A very large crowd attended the visitation and services for Bosco Applegate at Barnes Family Funeral Home in Ozark Tuesday night. Lots of his family, friends, hunting and fishing buddies attended.
Friday Rex Halcomb visited Jerry Maggard. Jerry has a shop and it’s handy for the neighbors. He fixes flats and does mechanic work.
Connie Siler got to come home late Thursday evening from the hospital.
Wednesday James and I visited Ron Nunly and got some honey and rasberries. Several sighting of bears around. I hope they don’t find his bee hives.
Saturday James and me attended the visitation for Kirby (Coy) Nelson. He was 103. His birthday is Sept. 1 and he would have been 104. That’s a long time, God truly blessed him. Coy as he was known to many was born on Swan Creek at Keltner, Mo. He is the son of Henry and Florence (Halcomb) Nelson. He married Pearl Johnsn and to that union three sons were born – Kirby Paul, Dale and Jerry.
Coy was my dad’s nephew. Coy’s mother, Florence, was dad’s sister. My sympathy to the family.
Junior and Betty Halcomb visited their daughter, Connie Siler. She is feeling better, but slow go.
Kenny Jenkins passed away. My sympathy to his family.
Happy Birthday wishes sent out to Iona Maggard, although I am late. Iona and family was our closest neighbors for years when they moved up on the hill. My mom was there when her first born arrived. They lived down the hollar on Boulders then. Bonita and her youngest son and her husband, Preston, passed away. She has one son, Ervin and his wife, Sandra Maggard. She has several grandkids and great grandkids. Her husband pastored Mt. Olive for 17 years.
My canning is over for the year. Now onto picking walnuts if there is enough. Hunting season is just around the corner and we will probably have a harsh winter.
September is around the corner. Early birthday wishes sent to Melissa Hutchinson, Adam Day and Daniel Lakey. We share Sept. 9 and Irene Swearengin is on Sept. 12.
I will leave you with this, as we get older things wear out, stretch out and fall out. It’s very true as my body has lots of aches and pains.
Play safe this Labor Day on the water or driving as lots of ATVs will be out.
