Senior Citizens News

Some of our seniors would not know what to do without our hot meals delivered Monday through Friday and frozen available for week-ends.

With our agency cutting our hours we know it is a matter of time before we go to an all frozen meal plan and shut down the centers in the rural areas. This means no hot meals daily and the loss of assistance with many services that we provide, such as foot clinic, tax assistance, health screenings provided by our local MOCH, nutrition education, daily card games, resource referrals, claims assistance, Part D assistance, free notary service for seniors. We also loan assistive devices at no cost to our seniors, home delivered meals, as well as, on-site meals and reduced socialization.

We are a Nutrition Site where a person can come and visit, have a meal and receive information on services that assists our elderly in maintaining a good quality of life.

People are going to need to go to some of the larger cities like Springfield or West Plains in the near future to receive services. This will mean that our elderly will be required to drive or need a person to drive them to a doctor’s appointment or to conduct other business. We now have the Oats bus that goes to Springfield the first Monday of each month for doctors appointments, but if the services are no longer here they would be responsible for finding a way to get to a doctor. Some family members work and it causes a great hardship on them to take off of work to take a family member to the doctor.

Charity begins at home, but should not end there. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Join us for lunch and fellowship Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
