Girdner Church

This time of the year, lots of families are on vacations and doing family things together. Hope everyone can have lots of fun times together and be safe. As we get close to the 4th of July, there is always lots of places to go, and things to do. May we all remember the 4th as a celebration to give thanks to God for the freedom we have and give thanks to those who have fought to help keep that freedom for us.

Sis. Maxine used Colossians 2:6-10 for her message this Sunday. Let us walk the talk! In verse 6, it says, after we have received Christ, we should walk in Him. We may live for Christ on Sunday, but what do we do with the other six days? Do we live for Him, showing those around us each day, He lives in us? Do we walk the talk? Verse 7 talks of being rooted in Him. Sis. Maxine spoke of an oak tree, how their roots run deep in the ground, they are rooted deep. Then she spoke of a tumble weed she had seen once while they were on vacation blowing in front of their truck. She ask us if we knew how they could blow around so easily; the answer was because their roots didn’t go in the ground very deep. Very little wind could pull them up and blow them away. So in our lives, we need to be deeply rooted in God, as the oak tree is rooted deep, and not let all the cares of this world and satan’s attacks pick us up and toss us to and fro like the tumble weed.

There are times in our lives when we probably wanted to just sit down and not go on , maybe we get discouraged or we want to take some time out. Ok, maybe it’s just me, but yes, I do. Sis. Maxine says we just need to keep on doing what we know is the right thing to do, and if we don’t study God’s word we won’t know what the right thing is. She says we sometimes got to not only study it , but do it! Live it! Be a voice for Christ, serve Him out of your comfort zone. It’s easy to tell your best friend you go to church and you love God, and what He has done for you, but how about that stranger you meet at the creek, with all those tattoos and piercings who doesn’t look the same as you? They need Jesus as their saviour same as you and I did. I’m just using this as an example, but we sometimes see people different and forget they need God just the same as us. We may be the only one who will be that voice for Christ. I have been that person who was different, but Thank God, someone took the time to share Christ with me.

Bro. Gary has been having such good lessons to share with us on Wed. evenings. Last week was, Our Walk with God. We would love to have you all on Wed. evenings at 7 p.m. We have two younger children classes, a teen class, and an adult class. Everyone is welcome.

I am sorry, I wasn’t at church Sunday night so I don’t have the message to share with you that Sis. Maxine preached Sunday night.

You know there is just sometimes you feel like you can just reach out and touch Jesus You are so close to Him, and then others He seems so far away. Maybe you haven’t felt His presense as you once did. Something Sis. Maxine had read I wanted to share with every one. This is the best day of my life, cause Jesus Christ lives big in me today! When she told us this it reminded me of the times when I felt my closest to the Lord. May we all have this feeling and thought in the days and weeks to come.

This week, my prayer is that we all think of the oak and the tumble weed, and get rooted as the Oak in Christ, that we may not be tossed around by the cares of this world, like a tumble weed.
