Visitation was Monday afternoon from 1 p.m. to service time at the church.  Shirley died May 23, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield with her family by her side.
She was born July 6, 1937 at Mammoth, Mo., the daughter of Jess A. and Florence LouRannie (Harper) Mahan. She married Vernon J. Garrison of Lutie, Mo., on Sept. 10, 1955.
Shirley was a devoted Christian and lived her life in service to her Lord and Savior. Her legacy she left for her family and friends to follow was to love the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind and strength. Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Favor is deceitful and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:10, 26, 28, 30.
She is survived by her husband Vernon, of Theodosia; daughter Shena Loftis and husband, Greg, of Thornfield, daughter Rhonda Cook and husband, Keith, of Bradleyville; grandchildren MaLissa Reardon and husband Shawn of Isabella, Mo., Michael Loftis and wife, Laine, of Ava, Mo., Jess Cook and wife, Cammy, of Taneyville, Mo., and Landon Cook and special friend, Shannon Castillo, of Bradleyville, Mo.; great-grandchildren Madison and Emma Reardon, Grady and Layla Loftis; sisters Mary Lou Myers, Murriel Hale, Wanda Byron and Winona Henning; and brother, Charles Mahan; also many special neices and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Vearl Mahan, and sister, Fern Leek; and sisters-in-law, Versie Herd, Velma Long and Vernie Nave.
Burial was in Lutie Cemetery in Theodosia, Mo.
