Mother’s Day was observed in both the morning and evening services on May 11. Gifts were presented to the youngest mother, Ana Haynes, to the oldest mother, Wanda Trice, to the mother with the most descendents present, Alona Fitzgerald and to the mothers with the most children, Edith Johnson and Thelma Venezia. Andrew and Hadessa Fitzgerald helped distribute the gifts. Sister Cinda Thompson did a special and was accompanied by her husband on the organ while a power-point showed pictures of the mothers of everyone in the congregation.

Pastor Bob Thompson, Jr. preached on “God’s Design for Mothers” based on Deuteronomy 6:6-7, “These words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: and thou shalt teach them diligently to thy children…” We closed in song by the congregation.

Special songs on Mother’s Day were by Donna Sue Haynes and also, Dana Fourman accompanied by her mother, Cheryl Paxton, on the piano. Visitors included  Bryan and Cole Bowie, Marc, Ana and Elizabeth Haynes, and Glenna Thompson.

In the evening service there was an “open mike” so all were given the opportunity to pay tribute to their mother.

Pastor Bob covered the first six chapters of Daniel in a survey of that book of the Old Testament  in the Wednesday evening service. Sister Esther Collins led in prayer.

Last month Dana Fourman took students Kaytlynn Waskom, Jessica Fleming and Elizabeth Fleming to God’s Bible School in Cincinnatti, Ohio, where they visited classes and campus activities for three days.

That Friday Pastor Bob took eleven students on a field trip to the Titanic Museum in Branson. The annual school picnic was held on the campus of Mt. Zion Bible School on Tuesday, May 13. The last day of school was Friday, May 16.

The restrooms in the Elementary wing have been remodeled. They are now wheel chair accessible with new flooring and new fixtures. We appreciate Adam Freeman, J.R. Downen and Pastor Bob for their work on this project.
