Last Weeks News – What a wonderful day in the Lord. Nice attendance of 86 at Goodhope General Baptist, good congregational singing, good handshaking and welcoming everyone into the house of the Lord.
Bro. Lance took prayer requests and had prayer.
Instruments by Sue Brown on keyboard, Glen Robertson on banjo, Dee Thompson on piano and Katie West on cymbals while children did penny march. Also as tithes and offerings were taken.
Our special was David Lafferty on piano, Glen Robertson on banjo and Katie West on cymbals. They did a very good job!
Pastor David preached from Psalm 51 – “Have mercy upon me O Lord, blot out my transgressions, wash me thoroughly from mine inquity, cleanse me from my sin – create in me a clean heart O God and renew a right spirit within me.”
Psalm 98, “O sing unto the Lord a new song for he has done marvelous things.”
What a message Pastor David preached. At the close the Holy Spirit was dealing and people responded by going to the altar and praying.
Sunday evening we had some good singing, very good testimonies then Pastor Dave preached from Matthew chapter 7, verses 24-27. Jesus is the rock of our foundation. He also chose verses from Joshua chapter one and Jeremiah 1.
Monday morning after the storm went through, my brother Ron and wife who lives in Ava called me to bring them some coffee. They had no power, trees were uprooted in front and the back yard. A tree had fell on part of their vehicle.
Sunday, May 4th. What a beautiful day to serve the Lord. Attendance at Goodhope General Baptist for worship was 82.
Bro. Lance took prayer requests. We had prayer, Lance welcomed everyone, had handshakes, children did the penny march then they were dismissed to children’s church.
In the absence of regular pianist Dee Thompson, Bro. David Lafferty played piano, Sue on keyboard, Glen on banjo for congregational singing. Then Matt Jenkins prayed over tithes and offerings.
Bro. David Lafferty on piano, Sue on keyboard, Glen on banjo and Katie West on cymbals did instruments as tithes and offerings were taken. Our special was done by David on piano and singing.
Pastor David Welsh chose Col. 3:1-4, “How close are you to God?” We all need a closer walk with God. Dave also chose Romans 6:1-6 and II Kings, chapter 6.
As altar call was given people were at the altar seeking God. Sis. Brenda Reed dismissed in prayer. We went to Beaver Creek and Pastor Dave baptized Bob Nagel. Bob was recently saved. Praise the Lord! His daughter, Shantelle, was also recently saved and was baptized. There was 7 others baptized – didn’t get their names.
Sunday night we had a testimony service and people with needs were annointed with oil and prayed over.
Katie West had the special.
Sunday dinner guests of Ervin and Lodean were Ron, Judy, Dianne and Ron and Judy’s son, Joe of Oklahoma.
Sue attended the Alumni banquet Saturday night at the Ava High School gym. She graduated in 1959 so it was 55 years.
Our dear neighbor and friend, Larry Clayton, passed to heaven. His visitation was well attended and so was the memorial service. We must keep Lynn and family in prayers. Larry made my (Sue) swing for the front porch.
