Girdner Church

Thanking God this morning for His care over all the people in Ava this Sunday night, that no one was hurt or killed. All other things are replaceable and can be fixed. I came thru town Monday morning and looked like everyone was working together to get the clean-up done and things back in order. Noticed on facebook most had their electric back on that evening so all is good. God is good all the time, and all the time God is good. A great little saying from the actors on the movie, God is Not Dead!

Sis. Geneva Stevenson, Sis. Glenda’s mom, is home from the hospital, and Sis. Glenda says she is doing good. Let’s keep holding her up in prayer. Continue to hold others in the community up in prayer who are having health issues.

Sis. Maxine’s message was from Isaiah 1 this week and a few other scriptures as she went. In Isaiah it speaks of the burnt offerings brought before the Lord. Then in verse 15 it says, “He will hide His eyes, and not hear, your hands are full of blood.  Wash you, make you clean, put away evil,” and then in 19 we see it say, “If you be willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land. But if you rebel and refuse, you shall be devoured with the sword, for the Lord has spoken.” Why bring your burnt offerings on Sundays then live like the devil all week? I don’t believe the Lord is gonna be pleased with this, we may find He closes His eyes to us and doesn’t hear our prayers. It’s God’s desire to forgive us, and wash us white as snow. He just needs to hear our plea to do so.

Bro. Richard Potter preached for us Sunday evening. He said as he begun, our songs in the Choir had been a lot about heaven, a song was sung about Calvary, one about overcoming, and one about the unseen hand. He tied them all together as getting to heaven through Calvary and overcoming by the help of the unseen hand. It always amazes me how the Lord can give someone a great thought such as this. Bro. Richard said if you were hungry and thirsty for the word of God there was no reason why you couldn’t get it. If we wanted to get something to eat for our body to quench a hunger we would know where to go to get something to eat. Same as being thirsty, we’d maybe go get a drink from the sink. So if we were hungry and thirsty for the word of God, we have the Holy word to fill this need, either by reading and studying ourselves, and asking the Holy Spirit to help us. We have the assembling ourselves together and getting this thru the preaching and teachings and songs and testimonies. God will fill this need for us, it’s His desire to feed His children. In Joshua 24:15, a verse loved by many, and will always be one we all know at Girdner. It is our Bro. Dallas’s favorite, “But as for me, and my house, we will serve the Lord.” As Bro. Richard read the beginning of that verse, he stopped on, Whom. Choose you this day Whom you will serve. We either serve God, or the Devil. If we say NO, not today, I don’t want to make a move today, we have already chosen Whom we are going to serve. That word will stand out to me from now on, though I have read it before, it took on a new light today. Consider Whom you will choose to serve today, remember the one who gave His all for you and choose wisely today, there may not be a tomorrow to make that choice.
