Commencement exercises for the Ava High School graduating class of 2014 will be held Friday night at 7 p.m. The graduation program is scheduled to be held at Dr. C.E. Harlan Stadium, however, the program could be moved to the high school gymnasium if the rain continues.
The graduation process for some 100 seniors of Ava High School began last Sunday evening with the annual baccalaureate service in the Performing Arts Center.
Friday’s activities will begin early with the traditional Senior Bike Ride starting at 7:30 a.m. at the gazebo on the Ava square.
The Honor Awards Program will be held at 10 a.m. in the PAC, followed by the Senior Assembly Friday afternoon in the gymnasium.
The formal part of the graduation program will conclude with commencement exercises, but for the seniors and sponsors who participate in Project Graduation, the day’s activities will carry over until early Saturday morning when the group returns to Ava after their all-night graduation party.
Keynote speaker for Friday’s graduation program will be Larry Harley, a member of the Ava High School class of 1958, and retired CEO of Mary Kay, Inc.
Salutatorian Bailey Lee and Valedictorian Elizabeth Ferguson will also give their addresses before diplomas are presented by the Board of Education.
