The Douglas and Ozark Counties Retired Teachers and Other School Personnel will meet for lunch at Krazy Daze Kitchen and Steakhouse, April 15 at 11:30. There is no special speaker, but the retirees will share some school memories of the past.
Some of our retirees attended or taught in one-room schools. Others may have attended classes or taught in city schools before retiring to rural Missouri. The settings may be different, but almost everyone can remember their first day of school or their first day as a teacher or as a worker in another position in a school system. Some things have changed, some things remain the same, but everyone has some event that stands out in their memory.
The retirees will chose a scholarship recipient from each county from the applications that have been received. Applications from graduating seniors who are planning to major in education were solicited from the high schools in Douglas and Ozark Counties.
There will be a report on legislation of interest to educators. MRTA is always watching legislation and is quick to react when there is a perceived threat to our system. MRTA members are kept informed about issues through their meetings and through newsletters.
