1/30/14 T.O.P.S. was called to order by Sharon at 3:45. There was a combined weight loss of 12 pounds with 13 in attendance. Sharon was the high loser. The lesson was given by Elizabeth. We discussed stress and techniques to handle and lessen it. When considering the day’s activities, some may be more stressful than others. Many members mentioned the stress at seeing disorganization in the home or unfinished projects in the garage.

A stressful environment is a huge factor in your life, especially in weight loss. Increased stress or unrelieved stress can influence depression and that can cause a vicious cycle that leads to self-sabotage. (“My house is a mess” leads to “I am a mess” leads to “I’ll eat to feel better.”)

Elizabeth taught that if you see something and it bothers you, do something about it! Eliminate it, finish it, or hire someone to help you finish it. It is important to surround yourself with positive thoughts and memories, and get rid of the things that bother you. That will help you in all aspects of your life.

T.O.P.S (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a non profit international weight loss support group open to anyone 7 years of age or older. T.O.P.S meets from 3pm to 4:30pm in the basement of the courthouse.
