Mt. Olive Church

Well it’s another cold and windy Sunday on the hill at Mt. Olive but we are grateful for sunshine and no snow on the ground. It has been an interesting December, 2013.  We are not complaining, just so glad to be able to have church again. We had a good turn-out for church, and Jerry and I had 4 of our grandchildren in church with us and one of our sons plus a great-granddaughter so we are feeling very blessed. Church opened with prayer and scripture reading from Eccl. 12: 13-14, “Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”

Specials by Bobby Loveland and family and also Loren and Hazel. The young people also sang two songs.  Morning worship began with prayer request, and Jerry preached from Acts: 12, on the importance and power of prayer. When you pray, do so believing that God will hear and answer. Also, never give up, as his word tells us to pray without ceasing. To many times we pray a prayer about something or for someone and then go on our way. Daniel prayed 21 days, and God heard from the very 1st day, althoough Daniel’s prayer was not answered that 1st day. So the Bible is telling us to be persistent. Don’t give up just because you don’t see instant results from your prayers. Sometimes we need to continue to pray and God will answer, in His time. It was a very good sermon for us all to take to heart and reflect on our own prayer life.  Have a good week and may God richly bless you in the coming New Year.  If you aren’t attending church regularly, we invite you to come worship with us here at Mt Olive.  Sunday school at 10:00, Worship at 11:00 and Sunday night at 6:30.   Pastor:  Jerry Loveland.
