Samantha Elizabeth Hetherington, 23

Samantha Elizabeth Hetherington, 23, passed away in her sleep on Nov. 28, 2013.

Samantha was born on Jan. 3, 1990, in Kansas City, Mo., to James Robert and Lisa (Reistroffer) Hetherington.

Sam was a photographer, writer, artist, scrapbooker, activist, survivor, and a good friend.  She loved music and hanging out with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gene and Mary Reistroffer.

Samantha is survived by her parents, James and Lisa Hetherington; her siblings, Mal and Dalton Hetherington; and her grandparents, George and Connie Hetherington.   She is also survived by her cousins, Julia and Ethan Krueck and Amanda Blevins, and her aunts and uncles, Fred Hetherington, Michelle and Tony Krueck, and Debbie and Mark Blevins.  She is also survived by many friends and family that loved her dearly.

Memorial service  was at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at D.W. Newcomer’s-Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, Kan.  Family received friends from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at D.W. Newcomer’s-Johnson County Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her honor to Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas or Wounded Warrior Project, both of which she supported.
