Mt. Tabor Church

We in Mt. Tabor Church have not been able to have church because of the ice and snow in the church yard, however, we are hoping for a better day this coming Sunday. Lots of folks continued to have bad driving conditions on dirt roads up until Tuesday.

The congregation of Mt. Tabor Church would like to send our best wishes to everyone for a wonderful Christmas season. Lots of churches are having programs and activities to celebrate  the birth of the Christ child, the only true meaning of Christmas.

There are still lots of folks to pray for, especially those who have had such terrible weather to deal with, those bereaved and facing illnesses at this time. We are happy to know Pat Lansdown is home after several days in the hospital before and after surgery.

Martin Hathcock’s visitors this last week were Jim Hathcock and grandson, Little Jack, Ronda Soto and Jan Jones. Martin attended Life Church Sunday since Mt. Tabor was closed.

Danny and Kim Clements visited Harold and Kay Hutchison, Tuesday morning. Morgan Clements played soccer in Springfield, Saturday.

George Haden and two daughters of Olyympia, WA have been in Ava the past two weeks visiting relatives and friends.  He is the brother of Lenora Burton, Betty Jenkins and Freeda Richards in Ava and brother of Jack Haden in Republic.  They plan to be here another two weeks.

We were sorry to hear of the passing of Chester Lamb, a long time friend, who grew up in this community.

Don and Evelyn Bryan were hosts for their annual “friends and neighbors”, Christmas party in their home last Saturday evening. Evelyn served finger foods buffet style in her beautifully decorated home. Those attending were their pastor and family, Brother Dwayne and Melissa Claxton and children, Allie and Preston (they are pastors of Lead Hill Freewill Church), Clifford and Imogene Madewell, Hellen Blakey, Martin Hathcock, Tom and Jewell Elliott, MaKayla and Logan Elliott, Mike and Connie Burress, Harold and Kay Hutchison, and the hosts. They played some fun games, finding out how poor they were at charades and singing Christmas carols, as well as exchanging gifts, sometimes against the owners will. A fun time was had by all and everyone appreciated the Bryans generosity.

Visitors in the Tom and Jewell Elliott home this past week were James Elliott, J.C. Hall, Shaun and LeAnna Elliott, MaKayla and Logan and Nettie Hicks.
