My family gathered for dinner at my Aunt and Uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Shoemaker’s home this past Saturday in honor of my cousin Christopher Adams.  Chris is being deployed to Afghanistan soon so please pray for him.  Those in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mahan, Mr. and Mrs. David Mahan and myself, Mr. and Mrs. James Shoemaker, Andrew and Christopher Adams and Mrs. Gene Hillhouse.

Our Sunday School lesson today was about The Pressure of Retaliation.  Please read James 5: 1-11.  What is your first reaction when someone wrongs you?  Most of the time, we want to hurt them right back.  If we strike back, we become just like the person who wronged you.  We should really respond with patient endurance.  If you are one of God’s children you must know that He will take care of these wrongs for you.  We are to keep our sights on the Lord and continue on the path that He is guiding your life.  Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest you be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.  James 5:9

When you are patient and faithful under suffering, how do you please God?  1.) You please God when you choose to end the cycle of violence.  Joseph’s brothers did him wrong, and years later he could have killed them.  But he chose to forgive and his family was restored.  2.) You please God when you express your faith that God will do justice.  You don’t take matters into your own hands and you avoid retaliation.  3.) You please God when you follow Jesus’ example.

Our sermon today was about God Knows You!  Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.  Jeremiah 1:5  We can see that God knows all about our lives before, during and after.  What do we know about God?  We KNOW He loves us, We KNOW He loved us so much that He sent His only Son to die a terrible death to save us from hell.  We KNOW that salvation is ours through the shed blood of The Lord Jesus Christ.  Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.  Revelation 3:20

Please join us for Sunday School at 10 a.m. and Worship Service at 11 a.m.
