Rome News

It was another beautiful day here in the Ozarks. We got a little rain Sunday morning. It was cloudy most of the day.

Norma Cross and I had lunch with Irene Richards, Goldie Miller and Roxie Friday of last week and visited a while with them. They have really got good food at the Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center. We sat out in the dining room and visited for awhile. Tony Richards came while we were there.

Saturday was a busy day here at my home. Danny and Beth Maloney, Jason and his boys, Brendon and Connie of Sparta and Matt Maloney and his son from Forsyth cut wood from the big tree we cut down a couple of weeks ago. They got close to five rick. There was one big log left. They will be back to get the rest later. Stetson Levelle came over early and replaced a frost free faucet down by the garage. Kelly Thompson was here so he helped Steston a little, but anyway it works good now.  In the meantime Kinsey vacuumed the floors. What was I doing? Sitting back and watching everyone work.

Irene Richards called to tell me about the surprise she had yesterday. Her great granddaughter, McKinsey Hollingsworth, from St. Louis is now living in Springfield and going to college. She is the granddaughter of the late Paula (Richards) Ryan. Later in the day Cody and Braxton Richards came by for a visit.

Goodhope General Baptist attendance was 78. A young man played a beautiful song on piano as a special and Susie Adams sang a beautiful song accompanied by Glen Robertson and Jeff Biaggi on banjo and Sue Brown on piano.

Pastor Dave had communion using scriptures Romans 8:15-17, I Peter 2:9, I Corinthians 11:23-24 and Matthew 14:25-31. It was a beautiful spirit-filled service.

This past week Ron, Judy, Jerry and Dianne helped Sue with outside chores, worked on chicken pen and getting wood up. They had lunch with Pappy and Granny.

Rod, Lisa, Kayli and Kayli’s friend “little Kayli” as we call her came out for the benefit for Larry and Lynn Clayton.

The “Faithful” group that Sue is in had part of music for benefit.

A large crowd attended Fifth Sunday Night Singing at Goodhope General Baptist. Lots of good singing with snacks and fellowship afterwards. Churches represented were Goodhope Nazarene, Dogwood Nazarene, Red Bank, Pleasant Ridge, Ava Full Gospel, Breedon, Goodhope General Baptist. If I omitted any church, I apologize.

If you don’t have a home church come visit us. You might enjoy service and want to come back to Goodhope General Baptist.

Although rain came down, the benefit for Larry and Lynn Clayton was not dampened at Plainview gym. It was a huge success. Music was provided by “Faithful” and “Calvary Mountain Bluegrass.”

Psalm 95:1-3, “O Come let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving and make a joyful noise unto him with Psalms; For the Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods.”
