Ava Kiwanis Club News

Greetings from Kiwanis Club of Ava!  Rick, Elizabeth and Theresa cooked funnelcakes Friday night at the last home game to benefit Project Graduation.  Diane, Donna and Glenda worked at the fair Friday night.  On Saturday, Diane, Theresa and Elizabeth worked till 3:30 and then Glenda, Denise and Donna worked the evening shift.  Thanks to VP Rick for moving the booth.  Glenda worked the Glade Top Trail event on Sunday.
At last week’s meeting, our guests were Mr. Aaron Dalton and October Citziens of the Month as well as some parents.  On Monday, Oct. 21, we recognized Terrific Kids at Skyline at 10 a.m. and Plainview at 2 p.m.  Some of our members may attend a Key Club Meeting at 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon.
For this week’s meeting, we’re expecting Division 18 Lt. Gov. Don Truitt from Mountain Home, Ark.  Although the Kiwanis year has already begun officially, he will be installing this year’s officers to their duties. The Kiwanis year runs from Oct. 1, 2013-Sept. 30, 2014.
We are always busy “serving the children of the world.”  If you have an interest in children and think you might like to become involved, feel free to visit any upcoming meetings held on Thursdays at noon in the back room at Krazy Daze Cafe.  There will be no obligation to join for attending a meeting.
If you know of a program you think would be of interest to our members and the community, please contact Donna Dixon at 683-1918 to schedule a date. Visit our Facebook page by typing in “Ava Kiwanis” in the search box and be sure to “like” our page.  Have a great week!
