Thornfield Southern Baptist Church

Last weeks news – Mrs. Alene Turner began our services today by reading Luke 6:46.

Please pray for Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Graham and Linda Dykes.

Happy 30th Wedding Anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. David Mahan.

Our Sunday School lesson today was about the Pressure of Partiality.  Please read James 2:14.  Have you ever noticed someone who gets preferential treatment?  There are many reasons we give people better treatment than others, looks, money, social position are just a few of these reasons.  How does it make you feel when someone is treated this way?  How do you feel when you are treated differently.  God does not play favorites and neither should we.  Do we treat a bum the same way we treat a rich person?  Then Peter opened his mouth, and said of a truth I perceive that God is not respecter of persons.  Acts 10:34.  We should not treat any person in a way that we wouldn’t want to be treated.

Our sermon today was about Depending on God’s Strength.  Please read 2 Corinthians 12:9.  All believers are weak, but the Lord tends to make us weaker, with the intention being that we then depend solely upon Him, thereby, obtaining His strength.  We know that we serve an Almighty and Powerful God.  Do you want His strength in your life?  Invite Jesus into your heart today and receive His strength.

Please join us for Sunday School at 10 a.m. and Worship Service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Barry DeWeese.

This weeks news – Mrs. Alene Turner began services today by reading Daniel 9:20-21.

Please join us for prayer meeting this Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Mt. Lebanon Church.

Please pray for Virginia Klineline, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Graham, Dallas Murrill, and Howard Clayton.

I received a nice letter from my friend Avis Johnson along with a CD by a friend of hers Tommy Lee.  Mrs. Trent grew up in Thornfield and was saved in our church as a young girl.  It is always great to hear from her!

When you pray, do you expect God to answer your prayers?  Well, you should, prayer is serious business.  God loves to have a relationship with His children.  We need to pray and read our Bible daily to stay in contact with Him.  Maybe try starting with just five minutes a day and see what a difference that can make in your life.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  Romans 10:13

Our Sunday School Lesson today was about the Pressure of Words.  Please read James 3: 1-8.  Our tongues can be a blessing or a curse.  A lot of times we speak before we think and hurtful words seem to just flow out.  Good words can be healing and a blessing to the people we speak to.  We should fuel our words with wisdom and gentleness and we’ll feel a lot better when we lay our heads down at night.

Our Sermon today was about witnessing.  We should not take this lightly, it is a matter of spiritual life and death.  We need to seek God in ALL we do not just a few areas of our lives.  Spend time with God each day and let Him lead your life.  It is the only way to true happiness and peace.

May God Richly Bless You This Week!
