As we may have suspected the hot summer time weather is here and we soon will be praying for rain.

On Sunday, September 1st Lilly Ridge Church will have their bi-monthly potluck dinner following morning services.

Dave and Karen Davis were in Mountain Home Monday for Dave’s doctor appointment and they did some shopping.

This coming Saturday afternoon August 31st there will be an installations of officers in Gainesville Masonic Lodge of Robert Burns, and also Theodosia Lodge. The noon meal will be served at 12:00 and the installations will follow. Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy the fellowship.

Paralee Rea attended the Belt Reunion Sunday, held at the Caulfield Community Building with a large crowd. They had a potluck dinner which we all enjoyed.

Prayers are for Betty Arnett’s health to improve as she hasn’t been feeling her best lately.

I appreciate Bob’s gifts from his garden. I have enjoyed the jars of pickles all summer. Also some good cucumbers from Jerry Miller awhile back. She is a good gardener.

My cousin, Donna (Mishler) Lewis in Apache Junction, Arizona and I keep in touch and had a telephone visit last week. She has three brothers – Archie, Jerry and James living and working in Thailand. Her sister, Barbara, and brother, Lyle, are in Springfield. Her sister, Jean, brother, David and she are in Arizona, there being 9 sisters and brothers.

Donna said the temperature had reached 118 degrees and they have had a hot summer. Her son and grandson work for an electric company there.

Hootin’ An’ Hollarin’ is fast approaching starting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening, Sept. 19. The quilts will be accepted for the show in the courthouse and displayed by the owners and help of the Friendly Neighbors Club on Wednesday, September 18th.

Edith McKinnon met her brother, Harvey Lewis and wife, Pauline, Sunday at Gaston’s on White River at Lakeview, Arkansas and had spent two nights in Branson. They enjoyed a bountiful dinner together.

Edith McKinnon and Lily Branco went to Theodosia Methodist Church Saturday evening where they enjoyed attending Ed and Karen N. Davis’ 60th wedding anniversary held in the fellowship hall there. They had all of their children present except one who lives in Canada. Also most of all their grandchildren were also there. Congratulations Ed and Karen.

The class of 1973 GHS reunion is coming up October 12, I noticed in last weeks Ozark County Times. Their 40th year.

Mearl and Roger Satterfield won first place in a fishing tournament a week ago Saturday evening.

Labor Day is September 2nd and lots of folks will be taking off for the lake so highway traffic may be plentiful in this area, 160 hwy.

Friendly Neighbors Club are to meet Thursday, Sept. 5th to complete the quilt show ribbon awards.

Edith McKinnon has a birthday coming up September 13th, she will be a year older.
