Sparta Man Arrested For Stealing 4-Wheeler

Officers with the Douglas County Sheriff's Department recovered this stolen 4-wheeler and arrested a Sparta man in the case.

On Aug. 26, Douglas County Sheriff’s Sgt. Vernon Johnson arrested Jesse Jennings, 21,  of Sparta, and later obtained a warrant for his arrest for theft of a motor vehicle. Jennings is incarcerated in the Douglas County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond.
The charges stemmed from an investigation into the theft of a four wheeler in the Dogwood Hill/Z Highway area of Douglas County.
Deputy Dakota Mings took a report regarding the theft of the four-wheeler on Aug. 19.  The investigation led deputies to the northwest corner of Douglas County where the four-wheeler was recovered by Sgt. Johnson and Deputy Nathan Long on Aug. 26,  off TT Highway.
Sheriff Degase said his office will continue to aggressively investigate burglaries, thefts and property crimes. He added that it appears another Neighborhood Watch program will be forming in the Dogwood Hill area.
Sheriff Degase said the above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence
