Mt. Tabor News

We were missing a few folks Sunday morning, however, we had a very interesting Sunday School lesson with lots of discussion. We had many prayer requests, so many needs in our little community and church. Our sympathy to the Hall and Jimmy Posey family and all others who have lost a loved one.

Brother Ric finished up his series on the ten commandments with, thou shalt not covet. We realize this means more than just wanting something like  your friend or neighbor has, but an all consuming desire to get it.

A early reminder that Old Folk’s Day is just around the corner, September 8, 2:00-4:00. Please contact anyone you think might have an interest in attending. We like to have folks from Mt. Tabor Church or school or community and all others are very welcome. Please bring a song, reading, poem or a remembrance to share and expect to have a fun day, with awards and gifts.

Martin Hathcock went to a birthday party Saturday evening for his great-grand-daughter, Jorie, with other relatives and friends.

Jimmy Matney, of Springfield,  visited Tom and Jewell Elliott, Saturday.

Jan Jones and daughter, Amy and her three boys, came to Martin Hathcock’s Sunday afternoon, and Martin accompanied them home. They attended a birthday party for his great-grandson,Joratio, with Martin spending the night with family and coming home Monday.

Tom and Jewell Elliott attended Jewell’s East Fairview School Reunion at the Vanzant Community Building, last weekend. Jewell reported seeing folks she had not seen in a very long time, with a good turnout.

Ronnie and Pat Lansdown had grandson Jadon for the weekend, with Myrl enjoying the ride to West Plains with them, and getting to visit with the Doug Lansdown family.

Recent visitors of Tom and Jewell Elliott were Shaun, LeAnna and Logan Elliott, and James and Tammy Elliott.

A few weeks ago Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Lansdown, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Lansdown and children, drove to Mt. Vernon, to visit and have lunch,in the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. David Guerin, who only recently moved there. David is employed in Joplin in the reconstruction.

Paul Cox came and mowed the yard for this mother this week and Pat did Myrl’s grocery shopping. Jeanne comes regularly to help out her mom, also.

Martin Hathcock visited John and Jo Stephens and Tom and Rosie Harris, Tuesday afternoon.

Jo Stephens is suffering with a back ailment and has had lots of calls and visitors the past few days.

Kay Hutchison visited Lenora Burton and Betty Jenkins, Tuesday afternoon. Lenora is making a remarkable recovery and doing so well.

Carl Clements had the misfortune of falling and is in Glenwood Healthcare for therapy. Raymond Bricker is also a resident there for awhile, for rehabilitation.
