The menu for this week is: Monday, August 19—Grilled chicken sandwich, tomato/cucumber slices, salad, fruit. Tuesday, August 20—Country fried steak, potatoes and gravy, green beans, cake. Wednesday, August 21—Ham and sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, bread, cake. Thursday, August 22—Cook’s Choice. Friday, August 23—Ham and beans, spinach, roasted potatoes, cornbread, pudding.
Winners in the pitch tournament from Tuesday, August 6 were: Annabelle Walker (223), Hulda Tipton (204) and Juanita Shebiel (194). Five games were played with sixteen people present.
Eggs have come under fire in a cholesterol-obsessed culture, but new research suggests that “an egg a day is safe and nutritious for most adults and you’ll boost yours odds of losing weight.” Pork tenderloin is 31 percent leaner than 20 years ago and that makes white meat a lean source of protein with benefits similar to those of lean beef. Rather than avoiding pasta, make the switch to whole grain and keep the portions small.

We are normally open Monday through Friday, but you can come and eat breakfast with us on Saturday, September 7. We’ll be serving from 7:30 until 10:30 and you can look around at some items while you’re here.
Activities for the week include Monday—Jam session 6-9. Tuesday—Tai chi senior exercise class 10, Pitch tournament 12:00 noon. Wednesday—OATS bus to Ava. Thursday—Grace Health Care Foot Clinic, Driver’s exam 9:30-3:30. Friday—OATS bus to Ava, Tai chi senior exercise class 10.
The Jam Session on Monday night was once again a great place to be. We appreciated the children coming and playing a guitar and clogging on the stage. We’ll do it again next Monday night, the Lord willing and the creek don’t rise.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work–Thomas Edison.
