Aviation students of David and Mary Kay Davidson pictured here began ground school classes in the Ava Bears Den After-School Program last school year and have now formed a separate Ava Aviation Club that will go the next step and actually learn to fly. Club members recently went together to lease a Cessna 172 single-engine plane (pictured) that will be used in the students’ flying classes. Pictured with the plane that was delivered to Ava’s Bill Martin Memorial Airport Monday afternoon are, back row, from left: Ray Davison, Scott Dinwiddie, Brenda Dinwiddie, Mike Gardner, Kevin Babcock, Mary Kay Davidson, David Davidson, and Ronnie Epps. In front are Larry and Phyllis Wilson, and Angela Modar. In the photo below, Scott Dinwiddie lands the plane successfully after making his first flight from the Bill Martin Memorial Airport Tuesday evening. The aviation club and flying classes are totally separate from the ground classes made available through the Bears Den program at the school.
