Rome News

Another week has flown by so quick. The weather has been good so far in this area. The rain came in a good time early Friday morning.

I took Kailey and Kyle Thompson to the orthodontist in Mountain Grove Thursday. They had ballgames that night. Kailey won and Kyle’s team lost. Kailey has one makeup game left next week.

Roxanna Davis came by one day last week to check on my garden. She said her son, Jedaiah and Whitney got home with their German Shepherd’s puppies they bought from DeAnn Thompson. They were real good on the airplane they reported. Jedaiah is stationed in Colorado. I talked to Roxanna Saturday evening.  I asked her how many times she got dunked in the tank Friday night at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center. She was the clown.

Norma Cross and I spent some time at the Healthcare Center Saturday. We visited with Peggy Jenkins, Irene Richards, Goldie Miller and Lenora Burton. Peggy had made her famous coat hangers for the auction. It made a beautiful arrangement. We all marvel as to how a blind person can do such beautiful work. Peggy is not well. She said to us today that she doesn’t know why God doesn’t take her home. We told her because God is not ready for her yet.

There are so many people that go to the nursing homes like Norma Stillings. She is so faithful to ministry to them. Their music, visits and etc. Also Gary Mitchell, he prays with them and there’s others that minister. I think all of them will receive special rewards in heaven.

Our pastor, David Welsh, Susanne and Kayla at Goodhope General Baptist Church took off this weekend so Jerry Loveland was our speaker today. He and Donna have been coming to our church some since he retired from his church a few months ago. He used Ephesians 2:1-8, Luke 15:11-14. It was a very spiritual message.

The Harley Ferguson family was guests today. They had twenty some family members there. They were having a reunion. They were from Iowa, Tennessee, Nebraska and Arkansas. Harley’s mother was 96 years young and played the piano while several family members sang.  It was beautiful at the end of the service. The Ferguson’s are new in this community.

Jerry Hall is still at Skaggs Hospital in Branson. There has not been much improvement in his health.

There will be a Fourth of July celebration at Goodhope General Baptist Church on O Highway Saturday evening.

John 14:27, ” Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
