This has been a wonderful week for sitting on the porch and waving at everyone. The weather has been cooler so the residents have been enjoying being out.

“You’re My Somebody Special”

Ava Place is starting to publish a weekly “You’re My Somebody Special” spotlight. All residents of Ava place will eventually be spotlighted.  I must say it is a lot of fun interviewing the residents and learning of their early life and their wishes. Today’s spotlight is Perry Len Taylor.

This weeks someone special is a long time resident of Ava Place.  If you have visited, you have met him.  He has lived here for 9 years.  He is our favorite doorman and resident volunteer.   Perry Len Taylor was born in Circle Montana to Robert Watson Taylor Sr. and Thelma Iris Pace.  He has 4 brothers.  He was named after his mom’s brother, his Uncle.  Perry married a lovely young lady named Christine when he was 17 years old.  They had a daughter named Jennifer Lee.  They were divorced 3 years later.  Perry said they were just too young.

He is a huge help to the staff and residents here at Ava Place.  Being a volunteer keeps him busy and feeling useful he says.  His favorite dessert is cherry cheesecake, in the picture he is licking the scooper after making some during cooking club.  One of his biggest accomplishments in his life has been learning to deal with and being able to function with his illness.  If he had 3 wishes they would be that everyone he knows could retire and enjoy life the way they want to, that he could drive a car again, and that his trust fund would mature.    Perry is a friend to everyone he meets.  Having him as part of the family is truly a blessing.  Thanks for all you do Perry!  You are amazing!!!
