Our menu for this week includes: Monday, June 3—Cheeseburger and fixin’s, savory potatoes, cake. Tuesday, June 4—Country fried steak, potatoes, gravy, corn, jell-o. Wednesday, June 5—Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, roll, fruit. Thursday, June 6—Ham and beans, potatoes, tomatoes, cornbread, fruit. Friday, June 7—Spaghetti, green beans, garlic roll, chocolate cream pie.
Monday night jam session was down to 65 in attendance because of the Memorial Day celebration. We appreciated everyone that came. Remember, the Jam Session band will be at the Ava Live Theatre on Thursday night, June 6. Doors open at 6:30 with music to begin at 7:00. A love offering will be taken.
Research proves that tub and spray margarines are better for you than butter. However, many stick margarines are about as bad for your heart as butter because they are loaded with partially hydrogenated vegetable oil. The trans fat in that oil raises your bad cholesterol, lowers your good cholesterol, and promotes heart disease in other ways.

Thursday—Douglas County Health Department blood pressure screenings 9:30-10:30, Driver’s exam 9:30-3:30. Friday—Extension arthritis exercise class 10-11, OATS bus in and around Ava.
About a cup of mango supplies 100% of a day’s vitamin C, one-third of a day’s vitamin A, a decent dose of blood-pressure-lowering potassium, and 3 grams of fiber. And a bonus is that mango is one of the fruits least likely to have pesticide residues.
