Bethany Baptist Church

There is always some kind of activity being planned at Bethany Baptist Church. The Young Women N Christ are planning to take part in a Youth Retreat at Hammond Mill in April. The Ladies Bible study group will soon conclude a series of lessons on “Giving an Acceptable Sacrifice to the Lord.”

We will observe Resurrection Day with the regular schedule of events in the morning services, but there will be a dinner in the Fellowship Hall at 5:00 PM and the presentation of testimonies and a Cantata at 6:00.

Resuming next week, Pastor Bob Sorensen, will continue with a series of Wednesday night studies based upon hymns and songs of the faith. He has presented lessons on  “Amazing Grace,” “It Is Well With My Soul,” “What a Day That Will Be,” “What a Friend we have in Jesus,” and “The Old Rugged Cross.”

Last Sunday morning, Dan Stillings sang a special song. Pastor Bob Sorensen brought a message, “Don’t Cry Alone,” from Psalm 55:22.

You are alone indeed if you have missed having a consciousness of God’s love for you. Trouble and heartaches are part of life, but you don’t have to face them alone. We know from scripture that Jesus wept at the grave of Lazarus and sorrowed in the Garden of Gethsemane. We know that our lives are precious to the Lord Jesus, so much that he died on a cruel cross to gain for us eternal life. Life is lonely without Jesus. All the honor and power in the world can’t take the place of Jesus. We know that Satan walks about like a lion seeking to destroy the weakest, the sickly, those who are not alert, and those who are alone. So when you are in trials and afflictions, turn your worries into prayers and remember that we can cast all our care upon Jesus, because he cares for us. Don’t try to live a single day without the Bible, without prayer, or without meditation. Jesus left churches to provide fellowship and a Comforter so that we need never cry alone.
