Ava Kiwanis Club News

Last Thursday’s meeting was canceled due to weather conditions.
Glenda and Donna did get to attend Mid Winter Conference this past weekend in Springdale, Ark., but had to leave later than intended due to weather conditions.  Several who usually come from Columbia, Jefferson City and other places north of here were not able to attend due to weather there.  There was lots of good visiting time with friends old and new, several good forums.
The main focus of this conference was about membership growth and The Eliminate Project.  For that endeavor, Kiwanis International has partnered with UNICEF to Eliminate materal neonatal tetanus from third world countries.  It’s caused from unsafe birthing conditions.  For more information on how you can become involved in this effort and many more in our local community, contact Donna Dixon at (417) 683-1918.  Corporate and individual memberships are just $63 when you join in February, which is good until Sept. 30.
This week, we are expecting to see David Williams and February “Citizens of the Month” at our noon meeting.  In addition, we will be making plans for our Benefit Volleyball Tournament on March 9 from noon to 6 p.m. at MOCH.  If you want to get a team together, contact Jayma Potter at (417) 543-0745.
We are always looking for programs that would be of interest to our members and the general public.  If you have one you would like to present, please call Donna Dixon at 683-1918 to schedule.  For all other questions, contact Glenda Little at (417) 844-0408 or visit our Facebook page by typing “Ava Kiwanis” in the search box.
