Our menu for this week includes: Monday February 11—Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, beets, fruit. Tuesday, February 12—BBQ pork sandwich, savory potatoes, hominy, cake. Wednesday, February 13—Chicken fried steak, potatoes and gravy, peas and carrots, roll, fruit. Thursday, February 14—Taco salad, corn, sherbet. Friday, February 15—Ham and beans, roasted potatoes, spinach, cornbread, pudding.
Continuing on from our vitamin list from last week: Vitamin B7—salmon, sardines, brown rice, turkey, chicken breasts, eggs. Vitamin B9—asparagus, pinto, garbanzo, and mung beans, bean sprouts, turnip greens and spinach. Vitamin B12—beef, cheese, eggs, shellfish, octopus and lamb. Vitamin C—red and green hot chili peppers, kiwis, papayas, fresh thyme and parsley, kale, mustard greens and cauliflower. Vitamin D—cod liver oil, fortified cereals, tofu, soy milk, salami, and oysters. Vitamin E—almonds, dried basil and oregano, pickled green olives, cooked spinach, cooked taro root, and dried apricots. Vitamin K—spring onions, prunes, cabbage, pickled cucumbers, chili powder, curry, and broccoli.
Joretta Sawyer made a quilt and donated to the Center. She drew out the winning ticket on Thursday last week and that winner is Ulla Farrow. Congratulations to Ulla!
Activities for this week are: Tuesday—OATS bus to adjoining county, Tai chi senior exercise class 10:30. Wednesday—OATS bus in and around Ava. Thursday—Driver’s exam in the basement 9:30-10:30. Friday—OATS bus in and around Ava.
Some of our seniors are texting now, but we don’t have the same codes as others. BFF—best friend’s funeral. BTW—bring the wheelchair. DWI—driving while incontinent. LOL—living on lipitor.
