The Missouri Department of Conservation will host a prescribed fire workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Ava High School Vo-Ag Building.
Brad Mormann, private land conservationist, MDC, will conduct the presentation which begins at 6:15 p.m. and will run until about 9 o’clock.
Mormann says this is a great opportunity for folks interested in using prescribed fire as a tool to improve wildlife habitat.
“Fire is an important aspect in maintaining healthy woodlands, glades and grasslands”, Mormann says. This is a classroom workshop that will cover fire behavior, planning and conducting a prescribed fire, safety, and equipment used to implement it.
Those planning to attend are asked to pre-register by calling 417-683-4816 ext 111.
The ag room is located at 507 NE 3rd Street on the Ava High School campus.
