St. Francis Church

Sunday, December 9th was the second Sunday in Advent colors continue to be royal blue and the second advent candle was lit. Bishop Hartley based his sermon on the gospel for the day, St. Luke 21:25: “…and then they shall see the son of man coming in a cloud with power and glory.” This passage is a warning to prepare ourselves for the second coming of Christ, and this day is known in church tradition as preparation Sunday. The advent season has two aspects to it, one looking back at the birth of Jesus and the other looking forward to the return of Christ to the world.

Our goal for food harvest was to get  donations that equal Bishop Hartley’s weight and he announced that we got 121 pounds which he claims is exactly what he weighs, so we all had a good laugh.

Our appreciation to Brian Connell for installing lights in our new nativity scene which is now complete and lighted.
