Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center

Hello from our home to your home, it has been a while since we sent in any news, a lot has happend around our home.  We have went from Fall to Christmas in just a matter of days. Everyone has been mentioning to us that there hasn’t been any news in a while.  Well, I’m back on the mend after breaking my hip, it is really taking time becoming back to its normal state.  I am really thankful for a wheelchair.  I had to miss going to the parade, but we had an awesome float with Mike’s stage coach exhibit.  Mike is so talented to make the stage coach and horses.

We will be missing John Wilson, Virginia Scrivner, Margie Johnson, Juanita Murphy and  Nola Fye.  Our prayers and sympathy goes out to the families.   They will be greatly missed around our home.

We have had so many special programs and activities for the holidays some of it has cut down on our game time, but Christmas just comes once a year.   We sure enjoyed the Plainview Girl Scouts as they kicked off the holiday season visiting residents and handing out cards they had made.   The Sunshine Singers once again impressed us with a wonderfuld Christmas program.  These singers were so good.

The Gospel Strings were here for a afternoon of music and the lobby was bursting to the seam with family and residents enjoying the old -fashioned gospel music.

The Monthly Birthday Party was

here with good music and cakes from the 1st Southern Baptist Church.  Everyone did a great job.

The Bears Den after school program has been blessing the dietary department with help after school.  This help is every much appreicated.

The VFW was here on Pearl Harbor Day honoring our veterens. We are so honored to have so many veterens in our home.  The plaque they received was awesome with their name on it, just beautiful.

We appreciate the veterens for this honor of our freedom that we live every day.

We traveled to the Ava Art Guild for a Christmas Showing of beautiful photography, the ladies served us with treats and then Ms. Kathy Resser read several poems to us about Christmas spirit.

Darrell Issacs and Connie Burris have been going on several trips throughout the week.  You never know where you will see our van filled with residents enjoying a country van ride.

The  Ava Jr. Student Council was here visiting with residents, playing games and singing Christmas carols.  The kids were accompanied by Becky Lakey.

Jacob Gillies, Nate Swofford, Coby Souder, Claire Fossett, Emaly Keyes, Sydney Snelson, Caleb Johnson, Drake King,  Stephen Copeland, Kate McDonald, Hailey Lansdown, Jess Stafford, Lauren Mendel, AJ VanValkenburg, Connor Moran, Weston Stillings, Belle Giorgianni, Haylee Hare, Kathrin Buff, Tyler Johnson, Chase Dotson, Kira Collett,  Shelly Bushong, Lacy Diel and Eli Maggard.   This amazing group of students raised money and bought 10 gifts for residents who had no family members.

The Frogs Club from the Ava Methodist Church was here for a Christmas Program.  They handed out candy and a Christmas ornament to all the residents.

The Assembly of God Bluegrass Band was here for music during the Sunday dinner.  The Home Schoolers was here to decorate our doors and give one awesome musical program..  One small boy recited the Christmas story from Luke chapter 2 word for word.  It was a beautiful rendition.   The piano students’ playing were also amazing.  And one accompanied a violinist- a treat for us!

Happy Home Church was here for caroling.  Plesant Ridge Church came for a Christmas program at noon.  The Ava General Baptist Youth Group was here  and played Bingo with the residents.
